WCU Film

Context & Goal

This project is for my Digital Humanities class at West Chester University. The goal is to create a website that uses film and storytelling to preserve real experiences through digital media. It combines filmmaking, technology, and public storytelling, which are all important parts of Digital Humanities.

Project Overview

The WCU Film & Storytelling Archive will be a website featuring short films, interviews, and personal stories created by students and local community members. The project gives people a creative platform to share experiences and perspectives.

  • Who: WCU students and local community members
  • What: Videos, interviews, and transcripts
  • Where: West Chester University and nearby communities
  • Audience: Students, professors, filmmakers, and the public

Social & Cultural Impact

A major goal of this project is to give a voice to people who may not always be represented in media. By preserving these stories online, the archive encourages inclusion, awareness, and understanding of different perspectives.

Goals

  1. Create a space for students to share films and media projects
  2. Make stories accessible online through a digital archive
  3. Encourage storytelling and community involvement

These goals connect to Digital Humanities through digital preservation, accessibility, and public engagement.

Data & Tools

The archive will include short films, interviews, transcripts, and basic project information. Tools such as WordPress or Wix and Adobe Premiere Pro will be used to build and organize the site.

Project Results

The project will give students a place to showcase creative work while preserving important stories from the WCU community. It also provides experience with filmmaking, websites, and digital storytelling.
