Digital project 2-

Value in Communications:

  • Transparency and Access to Information:
Communication studies emphasizes the importance of clear, accurate, and accessible communication in sharing information, whether in media, public relations, or interpersonal communication. It is vital for building trust, fostering informed decision-making, and ensuring public understanding. In the context of historical or academic communication, this value aligns with making research and knowledge publicly accessible and easy to understand.

Value in Digital Humanities:

  • Open Access and Ethical Use of Digital Tools:
Digital Humanities values the open sharing of knowledge and the ethical use of digital technologies. It advocates for making research outputs, data, and resources available to a wider audience, breaking down traditional barriers to information and allowing for greater public participation. Digital tools are utilized in a way that respects ethical guidelines, ensuring that digital archives, exhibits, and data are used responsibly and with integrity.

Alignment of Values:

  • Both fields align on the principle of public accessibility. In Communication Studies, transparency in media and communication is fundamental for informing the public, while in Digital Humanities, there is an emphasis on open access to research and digital archives.
  • In both disciplines, the goal is to facilitate informed public participation, whether it’s through media literacy in Communication Studies or crowdsourcing historical research in Digital Humanities.
