One of the digital tools used by NYU students on this project was the “8th Wall platform”. 8th Wall is a website where people can create virtual or augmented realities fairly simply. There is a free version of the platform along with more expensive versions for heftier projects. It also allows for a team of people to work on a single project; this can be utilized in both the free and paid for versions.

QR code to access AR Garden
NYU used 8th Wall to create an augmented reality version of Villa La Pietra to give access to visitors who may not be able to visit in person for one reason or another. They specifically highlight the Garden, which is an extremely difficult place for people with physical disabilities to navigate. With their AR version, people can ‘walk’ the Garden without having to be there in person.
