Page 3: Social Justice
This project connects to social justice by exploring themes like race, inequality, power, and success in Jay-Z’s music. These themes reflect real social and economic experiences, especially within Black communities.
Issues: race, inequality, economic struggle.
Groups: Black communities, hip-hop artists, people affected by systemic inequality.
Approach: Analyzing lyrics as cultural data and connecting them to real-world social issues through a digital platform.
Key analysis: The project shows how hip-hop can highlight real social experiences and brings attention to under appreciated voices and perspectives that are often overlooked. Along with that, this allows hip hop and Jay-z's music to be studied further academically and voice things that need to be heard from the communities.
Best Practices: Shows a clear purpose of social issues(race, inequality, and power) and a audience of students and professors.
