In this publication, we use a mix of history, art theory, and fancy computer tools to study film colors. We start by looking back at smart folks from the 1800s like Fechner, Helmholtz, and Weber, who had cool ideas about how we see things and what’s beautiful. Then, we check out artists like Kandinsky and groups like Bauhaus who tried to find big rules for art without using real things. That helps us figure out how to look at movies in a smart way. Plus, we listen to smart people today, like Bordwell, Thompson, and Staiger, who have good tricks for studying old Hollywood films. We also use computer stuff like databases and video tools to look really closely at movie colors. This way, we can understand movies better and see how technology helps us learn from them. With this data they then apply it to the website by using the colored timeline graph to explain the evolution of color processing. As well as a menu elaborating on the process of color in film and the different methods and ways these tools were developed.
