Digital Tools & Methods

Kinescribe is an application for the iPad that allows individuals to study dance through lab notation. Kosstrin and programmer David Ralley developed the Labanotation iPad app KineScribe. They want to impact print and digital media on dance notation as an embodied research practice. They are exploring the ways that Labanotation, video documentation, and written annotation “can exist alongside each other in productive and mutually informative projects of dance analysis.” Dance-technology that have artistic experimentations with interactive technologies, especially motion sensing, tracking, and capturing tools, and has been an important development of computational systems. This is a very specialized tool for dance that wouldn’t be practical for anything else in digital humantities, unfortunately.
