Social Justice and Cultural Impact

 Environmental Scan

WCU’s PAWLP has a rich history of fostering “scintillating and spirited” educator communities. However, much of this history exists in physical or PDF newsletters that are not easily searchable or linked. This project fills a critical gap by converting static documents into a structured digital collection that allows scholars to track recurring themes such as “Revision is the Party” and “Authentic Writing.”

Social Justice and Cultural Impact

Impact: This project highlights Community-Based Knowledge. It validates the voices of regional educators (like Catherine Gehman and Billy Collins) by placing their professional reflections into a permanent, searchable historical record.

Analysis: Academic history often focuses on administrators; this project uses a Public Humanities approach to focus on the “Eleven amazing educators” who actually do the work, ensuring their contributions to 21st-century pedagogy are not lost to digital decay.
