Anthropic’s Claude(Link)
Abstract: Introducing the Claude 3 family, a set of state-of-the-art AI models. Their “Constitutional AI” training method, which prioritizes safety and steerability, benchmarks their performance in reasoning, coding, and multilingual understanding.
What is it? Claude is a highly advanced Large Language Model (LLM) developed by Anthropic. Rather than just blindly generating text or doing all the work for you, it acts more like a collaborative partner or tutor. Because it is guided by a strict ethical rulebook known as “Constitutional AI,” Claude is specifically designed to be helpful, honest, and harmless—meaning it will often guide you through learning a concept rather than just handing you a finished essay.
Background & Development
Updates: The project is an ongoing, highly active development. Anthropic updates Claude very frequently, regularly releasing entirely new generations (like the Claude 2, Claude 3, and 3.5 model families) to continuously improve its reasoning, coding skills, and safety guardrails.
Who & Where: Anthropic is an AI safety and research company based in San Francisco, California. It was founded by a team of former OpenAI researchers (including siblings Dario and Daniela Amodei) who wanted to focus heavily on AI safety.
When & Status: The company was founded in 2021, and the first version of Claude was released to the public in early 2023.
