Remapping and visualizing baseball labor: a
Digital Humanities Project
My project chosen is a dissertation by former Iowa University, Katherine Walden. Walden’s project, published in the spring of 2019, was using data and analysis to visualize the professional baseball labor market. Walden studies the movement of baseball players through the minor league and potentially to the MLB. More importantly, Walden focuses on the comparison of globalization and movement of foreign-born and U.S. native baseball players.
Walden’s Data Repository
One of the key components to Walden’s project was the data repository that was held on the site GitHub. GitHub is an online, interactive website where Developers share, store and collaborate on software projects made. Personally, I have never heard of the GitHub site before constructing this project, so I found it strange that Walden chose this site to be where she keeps her data repository public for people to view and analyze.
