Although diverse, Biology and the digital humanities share many similar goals. Both disciplines aim to:

- Make Data Available to Everyone
- Understand Patterns
- Apply Knowledge to present day
It is through the unification of goals like these that the digital humanities and biology can collaborate to create influential works, such as the journal article on the 1918 Influenza Pandemic. The sharing of these goals allows for further growth of our species, both scientifically and culturally.
