Within the project, the team pursed two major goals that stood out: first, the need to preserve and reimagine the 17th century paintings not just as a static look, but as a full theatrical event. second, to share this work though the immersive experience they boiled down to. By bringing together these paintings that geographically were separated (in London and brussels) it ties perfectly into two of Digital Humanities core goals which to preserve/ protect as well as share/ provide access to cultural data we see this as the exhibition itself wasn’t just open to students and locals of University of Maryland, but made its way across the Globe to London to educate audiences all over the world. this just furthers to reinforce this mission, this is more than just a project confined within the walls of this university, but now into public spaces.
