SketchDaily is a figure drawing website that allows user to practice gesture drawing from a selection of thousands of reference photos of the human body in various poses. Users can set parameters for how long they want to practice drawing each image along with what the figure is wearing/doing. This website also has a small scale forum-like area where users can upload their figure drawings for critique from other people using the website. While this project is helpful specifically for figure drawing practice, the amount of user interactivity is limited, and the website draws from a limited set of preselected non-copyrighted images, not allowing users to upload more themselves, or directly message other users.
DrawABox, a website created for the instruction of drawing fundamentals, is another art website that shares a few of the goals of this project. DrawABox is a tiered educational platform, with seven levels of instruction, intended to be completed in its specified order. When a user finishes the exercises that are in their level, they have the option to upload a picture of their work, either paying a small fee per month to have a moderator of the website to review their work, or they could upload it to a community forum for free to get feedback from other users. This structure relies on a constant and replenishing user-base to upload content and moderate in order for the site to continue existing, which accomplishes a different goal than what this project sets out to do.
