Instead of starting off with the look of the user from one side, Pair prioritizes with the personality, because it “directly improves the dating app culture by redirecting emphasis from pictures.” The process of how it starts is that the profile gets built with prompts, and it helps users have opportunities to show their own hobbies, interests, and personality rather than firstly judging how they look.

Pair was created in 2022 by Anna Seulgi, who “tries to explore ways to incorporate her identity into her work.” She has experience in prototyping user journeys, and also worked with design teams, collaborated with UI developers, and hands off projects to app developers. She created this app in Las Angeles, California. Anna also has had experience with dating apps before, which is part of the inspiration of developing her own dating app. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from to help her gain some skill related to her projects. She’s also passionate about representing her own culture, which is Korean, and she uses her love of food to represent her intersectional identities.

The objective of it is to change the users’ perspective on how they meet matches online, such as knowing more about their personality before their look. Other popular apps have a more toxic reputation when it comes to introducing yourself to another since they only give you a picture of the user. Anna’s passionate goal of it is to “create a product that was familiar to users while still encapsulating a different and refreshing feel for users who were burnt out from existing dating apps.” How it works is that there’s are choices of biographies, and the info can be key information that have the potential reason why some people want to connect with the person with that specific profile.

Pair is a dating app that pairs people based off personality.
