Goals of the Project
Goal 1: Provide Comprehensive, In-Depth Conflict Reports
ACLED’s first major goal is to create detailed, verified reports on political violence, protests, and conflict events around the world. These reports are designed to offer comprehensive information and analysis, helping users gain a full, accurate understanding of on-the-ground realities.
Audience: Researchers, policymakers, NGOs, journalists, human rights organizations.
Connection to Digital Humanities: This goal supports DH values of transparency, public access to information, and the preservation of knowledge for interdisciplinary research and civic engagement.
Goal 2: Maintain and Update a Global Conflict Data Repository for Ongoing Analysis
ACLED’s second goal is to collect, organize, and continuously update a large-scale, structured database of conflict events. This data repository enables users to analyze patterns, forecast trends, and conduct in-depth studies related to political violence and protest movements.
Audience: Academics, data scientists, crisis response teams, advocacy groups.
Connection to Digital Humanities: This goal aligns with DH principles of building and sharing open datasets that foster collaboration, critical inquiry, and public scholarship.
