Relation to Digital Humanities
I do believe that not only my selected project, but the published article as well, align with digital humanities. With the use of digital data stated in the publication, they took data from surveys to map out representative data in different communities.
Although the selected project was proven wrong, I do believe that digital humanities does have strong correlations to health communication studies. Since computational approaches did not work for physical media, that’s not to say that it would be ineffective for digital media.
The researchers found that by decontextualizing the text, disconnecting the language, and simplifying the
categories, data mining methods compromise both the integrity and the complexity of these
sources.
