Analysis of Best Practices Within Digital Humanities

  • User-Centric Design
    • “Documenting the Now” was created for an audience of both researchers and activists. In order to let everyone have access to Twitter data the site and it’s tools are user friendly and there are various tutorials and forums available to users.
  • Site Documentation
    • The project team kept various activity logs across the internet for users to see an keep track of. Not only did they have a blog, but they also had an up to date GitHub, and a YouTube channel to help showcase “Documenting the Now” and everything it was capable of. All of these resources are still available even after the projects closure.
  • Meta Data
    • “Documenting the Now” also follows Digital Humanities best practices by utilizing and organizing metadata within their data output. While the project was running the “Hydrator” tool was able to use Twitter API to pull up-to-date metadata from tweets for archival.
