This project wanted to preserve and present visual material digitally. To do this, they digitized mural images to make them viewable in detail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal was to make this information accessible to audiences around the world. It also integrates image and text for a deeper understanding of the Buddha\u2019s life and narrative. The audience using this would include undergrad students, educators, researchers, and those who practice Buddhism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the use of accessibility, DH best practices are tied in as it is a standard multimodal analysis and combines formats. Additionally, making material accessible as a whole is a textbook best practice of DH, especially as it pertains to preservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This project documents its content through organized narrative sections, labeled images, and a searchable structure. However, navigation complexity suggests that documentation is present but not always obvious. The lack of explanation and having to figure things out on one’s own does not follow the best practice of ease of navigation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best practices are also hindered due to unclear information on who implemented the technology versus those who found the Buddha information. The researchers who photographed and did research on the Buddha are clearly stated, but the technology workers are not, which demonstrates tension between the two teams. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
