FiveThirtyEight shows how sports analysis now depends on computational modeling, statistical databases, and digital visualization tools to interpret games. Frandsen’s scholarship supports this shift by explaining how digital media has fundamentally reshaped sports journalism and audience engagement.

Both disciplines rely on digital technologies to analyze cultural events, organize large amounts of information, and present findings to public audiences in accessible ways. The methods used in modern sports broadcasting — data analysis, visualization, and cross-platform digital distribution closely mirror the core practices of Digital Humanities.

While Sports Broadcasting operates within a commercial media environment, its increasing reliance on digital tools and analytical frameworks demonstrates that it already functions in ways similar to Digital Humanities projects. For this reason, collaboration between the two disciplines is not just possible it is already happening through data-driven sports analysis. The evidence strongly supports the idea that Sports Broadcasting has evolved into a digitally grounded field that aligns closely with Digital Humanities in both method and purpose.

After examining FiveThirtyEight and the research of Kirsten Frandsen, it becomes clear that Sports Broadcasting and Digital Humanities are not just loosely connected they actively overlap in meaningful ways.
