The data is made up of scanned newspapers and images as well as written information about each item. he most emphasis on digital formats as it is easy to store, find, and share online. The data supports the goals of the BAC project because it preserves border history, shares it to the public, and highlights the voices that are usually left out of mainstream media and records.

Input Data and Sources
The Borderlands and Archives Cartography project starts by finding archives of digital newspapers from the 1900’s . They collect details like the dates, location, and publication. The project gathers information from newspapers in the 1800s to early 1900s. These newspapers were gathered from archives like Fondos Documentales Joaquin Meade, Hemeroteca Nacional Digital De Mexico, Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection, and Hispanic American Newspapers throughout Mexico and the U.S. These are then digitalized and organized online and throughout the website.

Output Data and Format The end result from the project is the online digital archive exhibits and interactive map which allows users to explore newspaper by specific data like place, time, and topic. Throughout the project there is a lot of data being shared as it is open access to anyone, students, teachers, researchers all for no cost.

Connection to DH Best Practices: Documentation:
Borderlands Archives Cartography does a great job following Digital Humanities practices. It thouroughly explains where its information comes from, uses simple tools, and shares data for all people to access. This helps make the project’s information reliable and easy for many people to understand.

Description of Data The Borderlands Archives Cartography uses data from digitalized historic newspapers as well as other materials from the surrounding areas of the U.S. and Mexico border.
