The Stop ICE Raids Alert Network<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

StopICE describes itself as a nationwide mobile alert system that lets people send and receive alerts about U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids and related immigration enforcement activity in their area.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

About the Project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The system is explicitly designed so that no downloadable app is required. Instead, it uses technology already built into mobile phones (SMS) and a web interface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Users can sign up (or text a key word) to join the alert system; for example: text \u201cJOIN\u201d to 877-322-2299 to subscribe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alerts are crowd-sourced: people in the community submit reports of ICE sightings or activity. These can be labelled \u201cUNCONFIRMED\u201d, \u201cSIGHTING\u201d, \u201cCONFIRMED\u201d, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The site emphasizes that it \u201coperates in the interest of free speech \u2026 not intended to encourage or promote illegal activity of any kind.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
