Programming languages like Java, Python and C++ are used to communicate with computers and give them specialized instructions. Algorithms are flexible and repeatable instructions usually written in code that are used to solve computational problems that often occur. Code is written in Integrated Development Environments or IDEs. An IDE is a software application that allow Computer Scientist and programmers to write, run, and test code and algorithms in different languages. Databases are used to store and organize information, code or files or smaller or extremely large scales. Specific areas of Computer Science use specific tools to accomplish their goals. For example game developers use game engines, such as Godot Engine to help build the foundation of their games.

Many of the tools used by Digital Humanities are made possible by Computer Science. Digital Humanities, like Computer Scientist, also use programming and IDEs. They mostly use programming to organize or analyze large groups of information more efficiently. They also use databases to organize and save information and digital artifacts. Digital Humanities experts use many tools to help with the presentation of their research. Data visualization like 3D modeling, or website and interactive projects allow researchers to present information in accessible and easier to digest ways. These can also be used in their research process. For example 3D modeling could be used to recreate and display real historical locations or events, digitally.

Computer Science uses a variety of tools to create software, solve problems, and work with digital information.
