These tools show how digital technology can expand traditional personality psychology research. Instead of relying only on traditional questionnaires or face-to-face interventions, the researchers used computers to deliver the intervention, digital technology to collect physiological data, and software to analyze the results. The study, therefore, provides an example of how technology can change the way researchers study personality, behavior, and human responses.

Source

Qualtrics Survey Software

Qualtrics is a software platform that helps researchers create surveys, collect participants’ responses, and organize the data they provide(Qualtrics).

Qualtrics in Project Personality:

Give participants questionnaires — the adolescents answered questions on a computer.

Deliver the intervention — the computer-based Project Personality activity was presented through Qualtrics.

Randomly divide participants — a randomizer built into Qualtrics assigned participants to either the intervention or control group.

Collect the information — the participants’ responses were collected so researchers could compare the two groups.

Qualtrics was useful in Project Personality because it allowed researchers to deliver the computer-based intervention and collect participants’ responses digitally. The study included 96 adolescents, who were randomly assigned to either the intervention or control group. The researchers then compared the groups using questionnaire data and other measurements. Evidence from the study shows that randomization was successful because the intervention and control groups were similar in important characteristics, such as age and family income. The intervention group also showed a significant improvement in growth personality mindsets compared with the control group. This demonstrates how digital tools were useful for collecting and organizing research data, which could then be analyzed to generate new knowledge about personality and mental health.

This connects to Digital Humanities because Digital Humanities uses digital tools to study people, culture, and human behavior. In Project Personality, the digital platform helped researchers collect human responses and convert them into analyzable data.

Qualtrics can be used for Digital humanities by analyzing participants’ thoughts, feelings, and behavior into readable, analyzable data that can later be accessed. Qualtrics handles the distribution, questionnaire, and randomized questions to deliver the intervention being studied.

Methods used in Research The methods listed below show the advancement of digital humanities in relation to Personality Psychology.
