This project was developed for DHM 280: Digital Humanities (Spring 2026). The purpose of the assignment is to evaluate whether Digital Humanities can productively collaborate with another academic discipline. In this section, we examine Economics and assess its compatibility with Digital Humanities through shared tools, goals, and values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Economics is increasingly dependent on computational analysis, digital datasets, and large-scale statistical modeling. Because Digital Humanities also relies on digital tools to study human systems, the two disciplines share methodological similarities. This project argues that Economics and Digital Humanities demonstrate meaningful alignment through their shared commitment to openness, collaboration, empirical analysis, and digital research infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We focus on SCM because it connects directly to realworld problems like product shortages, logistics disruptions, and global trade ethics. DH matters here because it uses digital tools (mapping, visualization, text analysis) to tell stories and critique systems, which can reveal hidden parts of supply chains that standard business tools might ignore.
