At the end of 2013, Dr. Lev Manovich (living in New York at the time) and his team began to research and discover how people all around the world take selfies, the angles, poses, filters etc. More specially the locations varied from different cities all over the world. This project focused on the cities Bangkok, Thailand, Berlin, Germany, Moscow, Russia, New York, New York, and Sao Paulo, Brazil. Manovich and his team wanted to explore and research using a“mix of theoretic, artistic and quantitative methods”. This project uses a series of digital tools designed by the Selfiecity team. The website is full of interactive data graphs and galleries showing and showcasing all the selfies. These interactive aspects are not only so interesting for the receiver, but shows how much effort and passion these people put into this project. The Selfiecity project was completed at the beginning of 2014, with the conclusion that many people around the world all have taking selfies in common. However with how similar we are with taking selfies, we all have different cultures, lifestyles, styles, and selfie poses.

Selfiecity Selfiecity is a project that analyzes selfies from people all over the world.
