As stated on the goals page, McQuirter’s audience is likely those who have a personal connection to D.C. in 1968. They are either individuals who lived through that year, or have family members that lived through 1968. The D.C. 1968 project impacts the audience by connecting the past to present, and highlighting lost stories of everyday people, some of which the audience likely knew. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remembering personal stories<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Since this project is very collaborative, including stories submitted from countless different users, it is not unlikely that the audience knows or experienced one of the stories. Individuals who were alive and experienced D.C. in 1968 may view the project to relive their memories or even see a story from their youth, they could have their own stories featured in the project as well. Those who have family members that lived through 1968 can come to the project to see their ancestors: most likely older aunts uncles, or lost grandparents. These younger family members can connect to their past with greater context and understanding. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Reflecting on the Civil Rights movement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Martin Luther king Jr. lead the civil rights movement, and was assassinated in 1968. For those who were alive and president in D.C. during this year, the project hits extra close to home. They can read stories about the days surrounding the assassination, and relive the memories they experienced. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
