One key strength of this collaboration is the ability to analyze and visualize large datasets, such as those seen in Mapping the Republic of Letters. The use of tools like GIS opens up new ways to explore historical networks and spatial dynamics, which is difficult to achieve using traditional methods. Furthermore, the focus on open access in both fields aligns well with contemporary scholarly values, ensuring that both primary sources and research outcomes are made widely available to diverse audiences.

However, the increasing reliance on digital tools can present challenges, particularly in terms of technological accessibility and data preservation. Not all institutions or scholars have equal access to advanced computational tools, which could create disparities in research capabilities. Additionally, the preservation of digital data for future generations requires ongoing attention, as technologies and file formats evolve over time.

Despite these challenges, the collaborative potential of History and Digital Humanities continues to grow.
